Your Minerva data stays on your device.
Maxnerva is an unofficial, student-built extension for McGill's Minerva portal. This page explains exactly what it does and doesn't do with your information.
The short version
Maxnerva has no backend server and no user accounts. Every feature — grade alerts, seat watching, schedule views, and the "Where is…?" search — runs entirely inside your own browser, using your own logged-in Minerva session. Nothing you do in the extension is ever transmitted to the developer or to any third party.
What it accesses
- Maxnerva only runs on pages under
https://horizon.mcgill.ca. It does nothing on any other website. - To power its features, it reads the Minerva page currently on screen — your transcript, course search results, or schedule — and, for the seat watcher and schedule views, re-requests those same Minerva pages using your existing logged-in session.
What's stored, and where
Your preferences (language choice, and the sections you've chosen to watch for open seats) and cached copies of grade and schedule data you've already viewed are stored locally on your device via Chrome's built-in storage. None of it leaves your browser.
You can clear this at any time — uninstall the extension, or go to chrome://extensions → Maxnerva → Details → Clear data.
Data sharing
None. No analytics, no tracking pixels, no advertising, no third-party requests of any kind.
